OVARIAN CANCER ACTION

THE TASK

Ovarian Cancer Action wanted our help to build some PR in response to the National Ovarian Cancer Audit’s State of the Nation Report 2025, which found that 40% of women were diagnosed only after attending A&E. In conjunction, Ovarian Cancer Action wanted to highlight its new Symptoms Checker - a free, fast online tool designed to help people spot symptoms early, recognise patterns, and seek medical advice sooner. Many women are simply not being listened to when they enter the GP surgery and their symptoms are being dismissed as a result of other conditions like IBS and stress.

THE SOLUTION

This fast turnaround PR push involved a rapid response from the charity to the results of the State of the Nation Report, commentary and thought leadership from the charity's spokespeople and case study stories of women who had been diagnosed at the point of reaching A&E, to bring the state of ovarian cancer diagnosis to life.

THE IMPACT

The activity generated over 200 pieces of national and regional coverage with an estimated reach of over 150 million. Highlights included BBC News TV / radio / online, Daily Mail, LBC radio and The Independent. Furthermore, it led to a 52% referral increase to the charity’s website, helping to boost the use of the Symptoms Checker.
