SCLERODERMA & RAYNAUD’S UK (SRUK)
THE TASK
Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) is the health charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Scleroderma and Raynaud’s. SRUK was in need of a freelance PR manager to act as an in-house comms and PR resource to help put them on the map. CLO PR would oversee the delivery of their awareness campaign run by Forster Communications, as well as launch a press office for the first time.
THE SOLUTION
CLO PR became SRUK’s plug-in PR manager for 12 months, supporting the charity by generating press coverage around a set of awareness raising initiatives throughout the year. We supported Forster Communications drive through their awareness campaign, so that media materials and assets were launched rapidly and SRUK insight was fed through - which resulted in a very successful campaign, exceeding targets significantly. CLO PR developed a thriving press office, which included creating a fresh process and bank of case studies for the media; jumping on seasonal news hooks like the summer heatwaves and the winter fuel cost hikes to spotlight the difficulties for people living with Raynaud’s; to launching a joint report with SRUK’s stakeholders, highlighting the extent of delayed diagnosis of rare diseases in the UK.
THE IMPACT
Highlights include securing a sofa interview slot on BBC Breakfast for SRUK’s CEO, and we brought to light the incredible stories of case studies - in both national and regional media, which boosted SRUK’s awareness and traffic to the website. Such was our impact at SRUK, the charity has now established their first in-house press office, taking forward many of the recommendations and initiatives we established.
